Description
Leoncavallo Amore! for voice and harp or piano
ed. D. Piana (High voice)
This version is for High voice. See this version for medium voice.
The Neapolitan opera composer Ruggero Leoncavallo is chiefly remembered for his sensational verismo opera Pagliacci. But less well-known is his treasure-trove of songs. Despite its Italian title, the song Amore! is somehow set to a French poem. In his youth, Leoncavallo was intimately familiar with la vie de bohème, scraping by as a café pianist in Paris and absorbing French culture. A light-hearted evocation of married love, Amore! is offered in separate editions for high or medium voice. It is playable on harp or piano.
