Woelfl Grand Duet for harp and piano
This is a delightful piece of music. In 1805, Dizi was the one who premiered Woelfl’s Grand Duet op. 37 with the composer in Paris. Then they left for a concert tour all over Western Europe. Soon after, Woelfl moved to London. Another window, another life, unfortunately cut-short by his early demise in 1812. His public musical battles with Beethoven became famous tournaments of back-and-forth improvisation as, in their excitement to outdo one another, they threw themes at each other like swords, challenging one another and whipping themselves into a joyous frenzy.
