Zlatkovsky Nocturne for harp
The Nocturne for solo harp by Philadelphia harpist Saul Davis Zlatkovsky is a recent (21st century) work with sophisticated musical ideas in a lyrical vein. The left hand runs resolutely through the whole piece, turning into harmonics accompanied, Salzedo-style, by ongoing glissandi at the end. The composer was strongly impressed by the softer, expressive and flowing side of the Russian ballet school. He has attempted to capture the spirit of romantic inspiration, its dream state and soulfulness.
